LINET Launch Essenza 300 Junior⁺: Continuity of care from Junior to Adult
13. 5. 2026

Designed to support safer care across mixed age wards, Essenza 300 Junior⁺ enables NHS Trusts and healthcare providers to move beyond process heavy mitigation strategies and towards patient safety by design. By providing one platform suitable for both junior and adult patients, it helps simplify fleet standardisation, reduce operational complexity, and strengthen governance assurance.
The introduction of Essenza 300 Junior⁺ reflects the growing importance of enhanced bed safety requirements for junior patients and adults with atypical anatomy, as set out in EN 50637:2017, alongside the established adult bed standard EN 60601 2 52. Where equipment is not designed to meet these requirements, providers may need to rely on local risk assessments and mitigation measures to manage entrapment and falls risk.
Purpose designed, standards compliant hospital bed systems play a key role in reducing reliance on these approaches.
To support understanding of this topic, LINET UK can share a short explainer video, Understanding EN 50637:2017, which outlines why the standard exists, how it relates to patient safety guidance, and what it means for hospitals managing mixed patient populations.
