Bed X-RAY Scanning

2.9.2004

Modern medical technology should fulfil two important tasks today: to improve patient care and help medical staff. This is what we bear in mind when developing all our products. That is why this manual is available to you concerning patient X-ray scanning on the hospital bed direct. Only the correct use of beds specially designed for X-ray scanning can bring about the desired effect of reducing any risk to the patient and facilitates the work of health workers.

The prime aim of the “Bed X-ray Scanning“ Manual is to provide all Linet X-ray scanning bed users with practical instructions on how to get most benefit out of what these beds offer. The manual also offers more general information to readers without special qualifications for increasing their knowledge about X-ray scanning problems as such. An altogether special case is beds for X-ray scanning by C-arm, hence there is a separate manual designed for these beds.

The publication you have is another in the “Clinical Practice Procedures” theme series and is designed for everyone engaged in these problems. In other words, for doctors, nurses, X-ray lab technicians and all those people who work in the sale and purchase of bed technology.

So the information could be based and respect the conditions of the Czech Republic’s health service, the publication was compiled in cooperation with top anaesthesiology and resuscitation department specialists and optical and scanning methods. So the information complies with the facts and is based on tested clinical experience.

Therefore we particularly want to thank Dr. Ivan Herold, head of the anaesthesiology and resuscitation department of Klaudián’s Hospital in Mladá Boleslav and his colleagues for their essential contribution to the production of this manual.

X-ray Examination Using C-Arm Performed at Patient’s Bed

2.9.2004
More advanced and efficient medical technologies require deeper knowledge and skills of those who should operate them. This is also the case of sophisticated hospital beds designed for X-ray imaging of patients using the C-arm. Only effective use of these technologies enables us to achieve higher quality care provided to patients and to improve the working conditions of medical staff.

With regard to the above-mentioned facts, we have compiled this publication entitled “X-ray Examination Using C-Arm Performed at Patient’s Bedside”, which belongs to the edition “Clinical Practice Procedures”. This publication addresses the issues of the X-ray scanning of a patient at the bedside, but also provides a manual describing how to employ beds produced by the company Linet, in particular Eleganza ICU and Multicare beds during the X-ray examination using the C-arm.

We hope that these beds have brought many benefits not only to patients themselves, but also to medical professionals. That is the reason why this publication has been compiled in close cooperation with top professionals from the field of imaging technologies and cardiology. All the facts and recommendations were verified in a clinical study conducted at the Coronary Unit of the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine (hereinafter referred to as CU-ICEM). We would like to express our gratitude in particular to MUDr. Jiří Kettner, the head physician of the CU-ICEM and his co-workers for their significant contribution to this manual.

Regardless of whether you are a physician, nurse, X-ray assistant or businessman dealing in medical equipment, we hope that you will find the information contained on the following pages beneficial.
