Sixty people, mostly manual workers, will find work as of November at the new Linet plant in Želevčice u Slaného. The company is the biggest Czech hospital bed producer. The new production floor will cost 376 million crowns and production capacity will rise from 45 thousand to 80 thousand beds annually.
“Linet has been emerging in stages since 2003. We are investing about as much as it has cost us to build up our company to date in order to double our production,” stated the company’s director Zbyněk Frolík.
In the last five years, the turnover has risen year-on-year by about a fifth. “We want to maintain this trend so we must expand the production capacity. Our surveys have shown that it is still better to manufacture in the Czech Republic. If this fact changes, we are prepared to move production elsewhere,” explained marketing director Tomáš Kolář.
Linet is a leading world hospital bed producer and further medical material focusing seventy percent of its production on the developed countries of west Europe, but also on Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, and wants to enter the US market in the near future.
Currently Linet employs about five hundred people.
The rate of unemployment in the Kladno district in January was 5.9 percent which is two-tenths of a percentage point below the national average.
